ISLAMABAD, Oct. 5 (Xinhua) — Pakistani security forces killed three militants in an intelligence-based operation in northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province on Monday, security sources told Xinhua.
The killed militants were identified by the security forces as members of a banned terrorist outfit.
The sources said the operation was part of Pakistan’s ongoing counterterrorism campaign to disrupt militant networks operating in the province.
Pakistan has intensified intelligence-based counterterrorism operations in recent months following a surge in militant attacks, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan provinces. ■
