SYDNEY, Oct. 7 (Xinhua) — A man from the Australian state of Queensland has been charged with domestic violence murder over the death of his infant child, the Queensland Police Service said on Wednesday.
Police officers began investigating on Oct. 1 after the three-month-old boy was taken to a hospital in the city of Ipswich, 30 km southwest of Brisbane, with significant internal injuries.
The infant was transferred to the Queensland Children’s Hospital in Brisbane, but died from his injuries on Tuesday.
Police said that a 28-year-old man was arrested by child protection unit detectives at a property in Ipswich on Tuesday night and charged with one count of murder as a domestic violence offense against a child.
The man, who has been identified by local media as the father of the deceased child, will make an initial court appearance on Wednesday. ■
