2 pedestrians fatally struck by vehicle in eastern Australia-Xinhua
SYDNEY, Oct. 5 (Xinhua) -- Two pedestrians have died after they were hit by a vehicle in the eastern Australian state of New South Wales on Sunday night. A police statement said that the male pedestrians, aged 70 and 55, were struck by an SUV while walking along a roadway in the coastal town of Tura Beach, 350 km south of Sydney, around 9:30 p.m. local time on Sunday. Both men died at the scene. The 45-year-old female driver of the SUV was not injured and was taken to the hospital for mandatory drug and alcohol testing. Police said that local officers established a crime scene and were awaiting the arrival of specialist investigators. ■
