U.S. forces in Japan’s Okinawa to impose night curfew after murder arrest-Xinhua

TOKYO, Oct. 7 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. military in Japan's southern prefecture of Okinawa will impose a curfew from midnight to 5 a.m. for one month starting Friday following the arrest of a Marine on suspicion of robbing and murdering a local woman, its Okinawa area coordinator has said. All U.S. military personnel in Okinawa will also observe a 48-hour operational pause from noon Wednesday, during which there will be "no off-base liberty, including a complete prohibition of alcohol consumption on or off base," Okinawa area coordinator of U.S. Forces Japan Lt. Gen. Benjamin Watson said Tuesday. Man charged with murder of infant in Australia’s Queensland-Xinhua

SYDNEY, Oct. 7 (Xinhua) -- A man from the Australian state of Queensland has been charged with domestic violence murder over the death of his infant child, the Queensland Police Service said on Wednesday. Police officers began investigating on Oct. 1 after the three-month-old boy was taken to a hospital in the city of Ipswich, 30 km southwest of Brisbane, with significant internal injuries. The infant was transferred to the Queensland Children's Hospital in Brisbane, but died from his injuries on Tuesday. Police said that a 28-year-old man was arrested by child protection unit detectives at a property in Ipswich on Tuesday night and charged with one count of murder as a domestic violence offense against a child.
