Pakistan’s fish, seafood exports rise 74.4 pct in Q1-Xinhua

ISLAMABAD, Oct. 5 (Xinhua) -- Pakistan's fish and seafood exports rose 74.4 percent year on year to 125.4 million U.S. dollars in the first quarter of fiscal year 2026-27, according to the Ministry of Maritime Affairs. Export volumes saw a parallel jump of 74.8 percent, reaching 61,679 metric tons compared to 35,294 metric tons during the same period last year. Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs Muhammad Junaid Anwar Chaudhry attributed the growth to the sector's expanding economic potential, noting that the government is working to strengthen Pakistan's blue economy. 6 killed in car-tanker collision in Pakistan’s Sindh-Xinhua

ISLAMABAD, Oct. 5 (Xinhua) -- At least six people, including women and children, were killed and two others injured when a car collided with an oil tanker in Nawabshah district of Pakistan's southern Sindh province on Monday, rescue officials said. According to Rescue 1122, the accident occurred on the National Highway when the car, reportedly traveling at high speed, lost control and crashed into the oil tanker. Rescue teams reached the site after receiving information about the accident and shifted the bodies and injured people to a nearby hospital, the statement said. Police said a case has been registered and an investigation is under way to determine the cause of the accident. ■ Source link
