JERUSALEM, Oct. 4 (Xinhua) -- A total of 1,318 troops, security personnel and first responders have been killed since the start of Israel's three-year conflicts in the Middle East, the country's Defense Ministry said Sunday. The ministry released the figures ahead of the third anniversary of the Hamas-led attack on Oct. 7, 2023, in which 251 people were kidnapped and about 1,200 others were killed. In response, Israel launched a military campaign in the Gaza Strip that has since expanded to fighting across the region.
