Hungary plans to introduce wealth tax from 2027-Xinhua

BUDAPEST, Oct. 6 (Xinhua) -- Hungarian Prime Minister Peter Magyar announced Tuesday that the government plans to introduce a wealth tax from Jan. 1, 2027. The tax will be 1 percent on wealth exceeding 1 billion Hungarian forints (3.1 million U.S. dollars) and 1.5 percent on wealth exceeding 100 billion forints (310 million dollars), Magyar said in a Facebook video. It will cover property, investments and company stakes, including assets held abroad or through asset-management structures, he added. Debts will be deductible from the tax base, while property and vehicle taxes can be credited against the liability. German petrol prices rise despite gov’t fuel tax cut-Xinhua

BERLIN, Oct. 5 (Xinhua) -- The German Automobile Club (ADAC) on Monday reported renewed increases in petrol and diesel prices, just days after the government introduced energy tax cuts aimed at easing the impact of high global oil prices on motorists. According to ADAC, the nationwide daily average price of Super E10 rose to 2.14 euros (2.39 U.S. dollars) a litre on Sunday, up 2.3 euro cents (2.6 U.S. cents) from Thursday. Diesel rose by 0.9 euro cents (1.0 U.S. cent) to 2.25 euros (2.52 dollars) per liter. To cushion consumers from rising fuel costs amid the Iran war, the German government introduced a three-month cut in energy taxes on petrol and diesel on Oct. 1, reducing the tax burden by around 17 euro cents (19 U.S. cents) per litre, including value-added tax.
