DHAKA, Oct. 6 (Xinhua) -- Bangladesh's GDP growth is projected at 3.4 percent in FY27 (July 2026-June 2027) before accelerating to 3.9 percent in FY28 (July 2027-June 2028), the World Bank said in its Bangladesh Development Update released on Tuesday. According to the latest update, released at a press conference in Dhaka, economic growth slowed sharply to 3.4 percent in FY26 (July 2025-June 2026) and is projected to remain static at 3.4 percent in FY27. The report highlights that investment activity softened, exports lost momentum, and inflation remained elevated, reducing household purchasing power and raising business costs. Thailand sees dip in inbound visitors so far this year-Xinhua

BANGKOK, Oct. 6 (Xinhua) -- Thailand received over 23.45 million inbound visitors from Jan. 1 to Oct. 3, down 3.88 percent from the same period a year earlier, preliminary data from the Ministry of Tourism and Sports showed on Tuesday. Receipts from foreign visitors fell 2.26 percent to 1.14 trillion baht (about 33.91 billion U.S. dollars), marking a smaller decline than the drop in arrivals. China was the largest source market, followed by Malaysia, India, Russia, and South Korea. Domestic tourism picked up over the same period, with Thais making 153.96 million trips, rising 2.42 percent from a year earlier.
